Costa de Almeria Climate

The Costa de Almeria climate…with warm summers and winters, the Costa de Almeria holds the title as having the best climate in the whole of Spain, not a bad title to hold. With temperatures rarely falling below 13 degrees in winter, you're assured a pleasant stay no matter what season you visit. Little rainfall and a high number of hours of sunshine per day, and you have the perfect climate for both a summer and a winter sun holiday.

The majority of us head to Spain for the sun and the Costa de Almeria is a great contender. The summer season lasts from April until October with temperatures reaching on average 31 degrees in the peak months of July and August. So, if topping up your tan is your main idea, then book your holiday for these months and you're guaranteed fantastic weather. There's no need to bring a brolly, unless of course a freak storm has arrived, as rainfall for summer in the Costa de Almeria is pretty much non-existent with just 1mm in July and August.

Those on family holidays in Costa de Almeria may appreciate the warm weather and pleasant evenings of the earlier and later summer months of May and September when the days are still hot and sunny, but not quite as extreme as the peak summer months. Daytime temperatures in Almeria during these months are in the mid-high 20's so it's still very warm, and a bit more bearable for children. Evening temperatures rarely fall below around 13 degrees so you just need to a pack a light jacket if you're not too keen on the sea breezes.

Rainfall in these months is pretty low, approximately 15mm, so you're unlikely to be caught by many rain showers either. Couples also appreciate staying in the early and later summer months to avoid the busy crowds and intense heat of the peak months. You'll also tend to find cheap package holidays to Spain in these off-peak months.

However, if you simply can't handle the sun or don't fancy battling the high season crowds, winter sun holidays early or later in the year are increasingly popular as people head away from the cold winters of Britain, and if going to Costa de Almeria you're still assured pleasant and dry weather. Despite travelling in the winter months, rainfall in Costa de Almeria is still very low compared to other regions in Spain. So, even if you visit during the winter you can still enjoy the sunshine and dry weather.

The Costa de Almeria climate also produces a dry and arid landscape, which is why the area has been such a popular place for the filming of many western films, including the likes of some classic Clint Eastwood films.
